Today is Chinese New Year. When my youngest daughter went to her classroom this morning, she found on her table a red pen and a red envelope with a regular coin and a red chocolate coin. What a nice attention from her first grade teacher. Many of her classmates were wearing Chinese clothing and it felt really festive.
The red envelope called Hong Bao in Chinese is given to the youngest by their parents or other relatives, even friends. The envelope is often decorated with lucky symbols.
